How did Ana end up learning English in England?

She grew up in Spain and is now a full-time teacher in Ávila and a member of the Bilingual Bridges team. She knew at a young age that she wanted to become a teacher someday, but understood that it wouldn’t be easy.

Ana believes experience and training develop effective teachers rather than innate abilities. She explains, “To become a good teacher, you need more than just a natural desire to teach and a love of learning. Building a successful teaching career requires dedication, hard work, and continuous professional development.”

Learning English journey begins.

Ana’s language learning journey has included everything from earning her college degree in Infant and Primary School Education to immersing herself in English while working as an au pair in England.

While residing in the UK, she ignited her passion for learning and teaching languages. Despite her new enthusiasm for the challenge and enjoyment of learning English, Ana experienced many highs and lows, just like anyone else.

Advice for new English learners:

“I remember at one point I thought I would never be able to speak English,” Ana shared. However, thanks to her hard work and supportive family, Ana stuck with it until she achieved an advanced level of bilingual proficiency. She advises language learners to keep things in perspective: “It does get easier. I promise.”

Ana’s bilingualism in Spanish and English has also helped her grow professionally. In addition to teaching Spanish with Bilingual Bridges, she teaches English at her local language academy in Ávila, Spain.
