Kathryn teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) at Bilingual Bridges and speaks Spanish. So, listen up, language learners, because Kathryn’s Spanish learning experience will likely sound very familiar.
The learning Spanish journey begins!
Kathryn’s experience learning Spanish began with her interest in traveling the world, exploring diverse cultures, discovering new foods, and learning languages. During high school, she had the unique opportunity to participate in a mission trip to Mexico, which opened her eyes to other ways of living and deepened her appreciation for learning about different cultures and languages.
Learning a new language requires perseverance
Like many language learners, Kathryn doubted her ability to learn a new language. Nevertheless, she persevered and was motivated to do her best, especially with the encouragement of a supportive friend who took Spanish lessons with her in Bolivia.
New language acquired, new opportunities
Now an elementary English as a Second Language teacher in a culturally diverse setting, Kathryn’s Spanish skills enable her to communicate more efficiently with her Spanish-speaking friends and colleagues and to build better rapport with her Spanish-speaking students. Kathryn’s story shows a potent mix of determination and love for learning.
